As you must be already aware our own dear rupee has got a distinct identity now thanks to D Uday Kumar from IIT Bombay. I like the way it has been brought and I like the identity it has given to rupee.
It provides a distinct image of our economy and India joins the elite gropu of currencies like Euro, Dollar, Pound Sterling who have their own image.
Slowly the sign would be made available d in the ‘Unicode Standard’ and major scripts of the world to ensure that it is easily displayed and printed in the electronic and print media.
Note: Unicode is an international standard that allows text data to be interchanged globally without conflict.
The symbol will be adopted in a span of six months in the country, and within 18 to 24 months globally.
